Make Fast Food Great Again?

Anyone who uses these words as the foundation stone of their political programme is suffering from a severe mental disorder that should lead to their spending a great deal of time with a psychiatrist. I’m not surprised that the so-called “anti-social media” like Facebook, Instagram and X are bringing their nonsense from America and polluting the world around me. The idea of packing something, unpacking it, using it, even consuming it and then throwing it away as rubbish can only come from America: a ‘fast food’ dish like a hamburger, cheeseburger, or something similar, has hardly any nutritional value. It is fast-moving and can make you ill if you add it to your diet.

When someone posts 160 letters on X under the pretext of freedom of expression, I have to ask them what this is all about. Do they want to prove that they can read and write? Why do so many politicians, so many artists, so many busybodies waste their time on the anti-social media when they could be doing something much more useful, like getting their hands dirty planting a tree or growing potatoes? Instead, they order chips, with ketchup and mayonnaise on the side.

In Denmark and Sweden, people have invented a new national sport. Consumers in these countries are leaving all products from the USA on the shelves. It starts with Coca-Cola and doesn’t just end with McDonald’s, which you can simply leave by the roadside. Now that the Americans want to take over Greenland, this popular new sport is called “ignore US products”, because they wish to impose 25% tariffs on European products, thus bringing free, fair trade to a standstill. I have packed the anti-social media away in my living-room cupboard and locked the doors. Facebook and Instagram are now just sitting there, and because there was still some space left on the shelves, I added TikTok too. I’m no longer going to be distracted by the misery of Americans and others, by the lies and deceit of Donald Duck and the diversionary strategies of multinational corporations. I eat local food, and I don’t ride a Harley Davidson.

Under the pretence of protecting people’s freedom of opinion and free speech, the fact-checkers are being sacked on Facebook, Instagram, X and TikTok, with the result that lies and deceit, hate speech and vilification are making a comeback. Recently, the Donald’s henchman, Elon Musk, was in Germany promoting the neo-fascists of the AfD. In Germany! In the country where six million Jews were gassed and murdered. He gave the neo-fascists a platform of free advertising, lasting for 90 minutes. That gave me an idea of how I might counter this. I actually wanted to buy a new electric car this year, this time possibly from Tesla. I was toying with the idea and, while thinking about it, I came to realise that Tesla isn’t really ‘my thing’ right now. Since January 2025, Tesla has sold around 73% fewer electric cars in Europe than in the comparative period for 2024. There must be a reason for this. That was when I decided not to buy a Tesla. And suddenly I could sense that my heart had opened up and I felt better…

You don’t make America bigger than it actually is by putting thousands of refugees in chains on aeroplanes and deporting them to South America. You don’t make America greater than it actually is by sacking thousands of government employees from their safe and meaningful jobs and throwing them into unemployment. You don’t make America greater again by threatening war on its neighbours Panama and Mexico and then going off to play golf…
