Small changes, big differences

  • Disconnect all devices on stand-by and unplug chargers, as 8% of the electricity used at home is wasted by equipment on stand-by.
  • Put the lids on pans when you are cooking; in that way the heat produced is not lost and cooking is quicker.
  • Turn on the washing machine when it is full and wash at 40ºC instead of 60ºC and you will save one-third of the electricity.
  • Dry clothes in the sun instead of using the dryer.
  • Close the shutters on windows to avoid wasting energy.
  • Only boil the amount of water you need.
  • Lower the heating thermostat by just 1ºC and you will reduce energy consumption by 10%.
  • Keep your fridge working efficiently by cleaning the condenser coils on the back because when they are dirty the power consumption increases by about 30%.
  • If your freezer is not full, put newspaper in the empty spaces so that it works best and without waste.
